Development Update
Thank you everyone for the nice comments over the past few days! I've had a nice rest over the weekend and I'm already at work planning out all of the remaining phases of development in greater detail (including all the stretch goals!)
In terms of development news, I've began working to implement better controls for Cloudscape using Rewired, which is a well known controller plug-in that allows players to choose from hundreds of different controllers/inputs to play the game! There will also be fully remappable controls so you can set up the control scheme however you prefer.
I'm also taking the first steps into implementing Multiplayer, as I need to go back into my old code and update things to work for more than one player at a time. This step is pretty labor intensive and is going to probably keep me busy for a while. I originally intended the game to only be single player so I didn't code anything around the player system being flexible for more than a single player.
Missed the campaign? Want to add more to your pledge?
I've had quite a few people reach out to tell me they just missed the campaign and weren't able to pledge for a reward tier, and also some people wanting to add on to their pledge. Well good news! I will be launching a BackerKit page in a couple of weeks and will link it here at the top of the campaign page and also send out an update to let everyone know when it's live!
BackerKit essentially works like a pre-order store, where you can choose various tiers/add-ons and order them just like as if they were pledges. More information to come!
Unpaid pledges still remaining
The Cloudscape community has been really great with getting your pledges paid for and I'm really happy about that! There's only a very small fraction of pledges who haven't gone through yet. This is just a friendly reminder to double check that your pledge was successful and if not, you'll need to update your payment information in order for the pledge to go through! Over 100 unpaid pledges were resolved over the weekend so thank you for that! Less than 100 unpaid pledges remain!
Shout-Out:
Dwerve is a tower defense dungeon crawler RPG. It tells the story of a young dwarven tinkerer that adventures into dwarven ruins armed with turrets and traps, the only weapons that can protect the dwarves from Witch Queen Vandra the Wicked and her army of bloodthirsty trolls and monstrous creatures.
What type of controller do you prefer to use when playing a game like Cloudscape? Mouse/keyboard? Wireless gamepad? Let me know in the comments!

FULLY FUNDED! ALL STRETCH GOALS REACHED!
Wow... The past 30 days have been a wild ride! Sorry for not making this update sooner, but shortly after the campaign ended I fell asleep as I had been up almost 24 hours!
I know I've said this a lot throughout the campaign, but THANK YOU SO MUCH for supporting my little game project! There have been ups and downs over the years and I know we've all been going through a LOT in life right now... so it's even more meaningful to me to see everyone pitching in to help fund this game.
We raised a total of $208,806 from 4,027 backers! I'm just blown away!
Where do we go from here? Well first, Kickstarter will be charging all backers for their pledges... which has already happened, and the majority of pledges have gone through already! For those few who didn't process yet, please make sure to double check your payment information on Kickstarter to make sure your credit card info is up to date and you're not using an expired card! You'll get a bunch of reminders from Kickstarter via e-mail so I just want to help out now to avoid you getting spammed with reminders. :)
Once all of the pledges are collected (it takes 2 weeks) then Kickstarter will send payment to me. I'm estimating about 3-4 weeks from now I'll be able to send everyone a survey via e-mail. This will link to BackerKit which I have decided to use as a pledge manager and pre-order store.
You will be able to pre-order the game in a few weeks on BackerKit along with adding on various physical and digital rewards!
The campaign page will also have a button at the top which links to BackerKit once it goes up in a few weeks from now. So be on the lookout for that if you didn't get a chance to pledge or want to add more things to your current pledge!
For now, it's back to work for me. I'm going to rest for a day or so and then I'll be diving in to the game's development again! I will also be posting more dev logs to my YouTube channel over the course of the game's development. You can watch those (and past dev logs) by checking out my channel:
I will also link to dev logs in future Kickstarter updates!
I'm also considering doing some game development livestreams either on YouTube or Twitch, but I haven't decided on that yet.
Most asked questions
Now that the campaign is over I have some questions being asked a lot so I just want to quickly cover a few here:
1. When do we get discord roles/private channel access?
Once I send out surveys in a few weeks you will be able to fill out your Discord name and submit it and after I receive that I can add your role and access!
2. I pledged for a Spirit, how do I make that?
Once the Spirit Maker is fully ready, I will provide a link to a website which will let you build your Spirit, name it, and give it a fun message to say to players. You can then submit that to me to get added into the game!
3. I backed a Designer Tier, when will I get to design my stuff?
Since the game is early in development it will be best to wait until the game is farther along to design most of these things. I will send out a message to all Design tier backers in the coming weeks which will provide a lot more information on this!
4. I pledged for Early Access, when do I get access to the Beta?
The beta access is planned for some time in late 2022. Unfortunately due to the nature of game development, I can't give a really firm date on this but just know that's what I'm aiming for right now. Once beta access is ready, you'll receive a Steam Key to use on PC for each copy of the game you purchased. This means that even if you bought a copy for Switch, you'll get a Steam Key for the Beta!
Beta keys will be temporary as they are only meant for the Beta itself. Once the Beta period ends, the full game will release and you will receive the proper physical/digital copies that you initially pledged for.
5. When will the game be released?
The plan right now is to release by July 2023. Game development is really tricky to estimate and there's also the logistics of getting all of the physical carts ready to ship with the rest of the physical merchandise... so the goal right now is July 2023 but you'll have to forgive me in advance if this extends slightly past this point. I will keep everyone updated often if there are any sort of issues or delays and I'm going to do my best to try to hit the deadline I've set!
6. What sort of Multiplayer will the game have?
As of now the multiplayer is going to be local couch co-op. This means you can play the game with someone close by and you'll share a screen. The current plan is to have players share one screen and only split the screen if players are too far apart, but I will be experimenting with what feels best for the game. Cross play will not be happening until possibly after the game has launched, and this goes for online multiplayer as well. It's just far too complicated and difficult for me to implement that during development. However I do believe you'll be able to use Steam's remote play feature to play co-op remotely!
7. When do I get the physical and digital rewards?
Rewards will start going out some time in mid 2023! If you ordered a physical copy of the game, your physical rewards will ship with it. If you didn't order a physical copy but have other physical rewards, those may go out a bit sooner!
I'll be making regular updates here on Kickstarter when I've compiled enough new stuff to show, but if you want smaller updates right away, check out my twitter and discord! If you want to watch my dev log videos, you can also check out my YouTube channel!
That's all for this update! Thank you all again for helping make my dream come true!

LAST UPDATE BEFORE CAMPAIGN END! Extra Game Modes Stretch Goal REACHED! ONE STRETCH GOAL LEFT MULTIPLAYER!
– Thu, Jul 22, 2021 at 06:03:49 PM
We've had an absolutely amazing rally of support over the past 2 days leading us to the final moments of this campaign! We have now surpassed the $185,000 Extra Game Modes Stretch Goal and only have one left to hit at $200,000!
MULTIPLAYER!
This one feature has been probably the most requested so far! If we can reach this goal, you'll be able to play Cloudscape with your friends and share lots of fun moments as you transform your island, battle monsters, explore dungeons and uncover the world of Cloudscape together!
We are SO CLOSE and need your help to push us across the finish line! Your support throughout these 30 days has been AMAZING! So if you haven't shared the link across social media yet, I humbly ask you to please copy this link and share it with everyone you know! Let them know we are super close at completing our last stretch goal for the campaign!
If you have just a little extra money to spare, also please consider upgrading your pledge! If you backed the $20 tier, maybe check out the $30 Digital Art Edition! You'll get a robust digital artbook full of cool concept art, sprites, fan art, and info written by myself about my art process and the various stages of development that Cloudscape art has went through! You'll also get the full amazing soundtrack featuring music by Samantha van der Sluis who is an extremely talented composer!
If you can spare even more funds, the Collector's Edition is an awesome purchase! You get a limited collector's edition slip cover version of the physical game, and tons of amazing physical goodies, along with all of the digital rewards!
Finally the Deluxe Collector's Edition comes in a limited box set and adds a Kickstarter Limited Tote Bag and Foil Stickers along with a hardcover artbook upgrade and you get to have a little Spirit directly in the game for all players to interact with!
Your little Spirit will roam around Limbo (the game's afterlife) and players will get to interact with it to see what it has to say!
You will get to design your Spirit based on a large selection of different colors, hairstyles and faces, along with giving it a name and a message to say to players! You can even play around with the Spirit Maker to see an early version of how your Spirit could look!
Help us reach our final stretch goal and become a part of the game itself! We appreciate every single pledge and share of the campaign! I'll leave you with some screenshots from Cloudscape:
Thank you all once again and lets reach MULTIPLAYER!

Two New Romance Partners stretch goal REACHED! Plus DISCOUNTED DESIGNER TIERS!
– Wed, Jul 21, 2021 at 04:04:16 AM
We're quickly reaching the final stretch goals! Thank you everyone!
New romance partners will officially be added! I love all of the suggestions the community provided in the last update and will definitely be taking your ideas into consideration! We're now on to the final 3 stretch goals!
Children/Family will be really amazing to add and I'm excited to develop that further! Let's reach the goal! You will be able to have children who look like a mix between you and your partner, or you can even adopt a child as a single parent! Here are some examples of the different children and their growth stages:
Children will provide bonuses to the player and as they get older they will be able to help with various tasks such as farming, ranching, bug catching, and more!
I also realize I mentioned discounts on social media and elsewhere but forgot to highlight that in a Kickstarter update officially... so here it is!
We've already had a couple more taken since posting and these are pretty limited so if you have the $ to spare, now is the time to go for these reward tiers! You get EVERYTHING from the deluxe physical tier along with getting to have something of your own put right into the game! I'm excited to work with backers of these tiers and help bring your ideas to life!
Shout-Out:
I'm not sure this game needs much of an introduction, as it's currently the top most funded videogame campaign running right now... but it's definitely earned that spot!
Crowsworn is a beautiful looking metroidvania game and I've always had a particular liking for Plague Doctors so that makes this game extra cool. :)
That's all for this update! Here's hoping we can hit all of our stretch goals!
What stretch goal are you most excited for? Let me know in the comments!

Last 48 Hours of the campaign! ALL STRETCH GOALS REVEALED! More game modes + MULTIPLAYER
over 3 years ago
– Wed, Jul 21, 2021 at 04:02:48 AM
We are in the final 48 hours of the campaign!
Thanks everyone for the support and contributing to make this campaign one of the current top running videogame campaigns on Kickstarter! As a special surprise, I'm announcing the remaining stretch goals and talking about all of them right in here!
FOUR goals left to hit in 48 hours! Can we do it!?!
We've already covered the 2 new Romance Partners stretch goal but let me talk about the Children/Family Upgrade!
With this stretch goal hit, you will be able to have children that you raise from infants to young adults! Children will have personalities and their own set of dialogue and will help you out with various tasks! Their appearance will be based on the type of romantic partner you choose OR you can adopt a child as a solo parent!
More Game Modes Stretch Goal
Hitting this goal will unlock some really fun additional game modes and a whole slew of difficulty adjustments you can make when starting a new adventure!
Survival Challenge Mode will put you on a single island with no escape. Your goal is survive for as long as possible with the limited resources available! Monsters will arrive every night in waves and will get increasingly difficult over time! This mode tracks how many days you survive, how many monsters you defeat and more!
Peaceful mode will provide players a unique experience by allowing them to play Cloudscape without any monsters or combat! The game will be adjusted to make sure the player can experience all other aspects of the game but without the added pressure of having to survive the night and fight monsters! You will still be able to explore dungeons, but instead of monsters you will find their resources scattered around to collect. There's even changes to the villager dialogue and story itself!
Finally the Difficulty Settings will allow you to play Cloudscape in normal mode, but with some small tweaks here and there to meet your tastes. Maybe you hate tools breaking in the game? Cool, just disable them! Does time move by too fast for your liking? Slow it down! Do you enjoy combat but find it a bit too hard? Lower the difficulty setting and monsters will deal less damage and take less hits to defeat!
Multiplayer Stretch Goal
This is the big one! If we can reach this goal, I will be able to implement Multiplayer into Cloudscape! For the launch, the game will have local multiplayer added, where you can play with your friends in a couch co-op mode! You'll be able to experience the story together, and the mode will be custom tailored for multiple players, including story changes, resource adjustments, event adjustments, special multiplayer only items and even special circumstances when players die in the game! Everyone shares an island but can have their own houses and help transform the island together!
It's a long climb to reach this goal and we only have so much time left, so please share the Kickstarter campaign and get the word out! If you can upgrade your pledge, that would also help a ton! I've even recently discounted the designer tiers to match their early bird prices!
Shout-Out:
